Did you know that: Pears arrived from ancient Persia via Armenia and Small Asia to Greece, where they were considered a favourite fruit. The pear then found its way from Greece to Rome and there it was well-liked by Julius Caesar, who ordered pear trees to be planted in conquered England. Over time, the pear even crossed the Alps and reached Poland where it joined its relatives, the wild pears and snow pears.
